Long Beach Police adding extra patrols after two separate shootings occur hours apart

The Long Beach Police Department is investigating two shootings that happened in the same intersection just hours apart.

Officers responded to the area of Pacific Coast Highway and Pine Avenue around 1:30 a.m. Saturday and located a gunshot wound victim.

Police say the man was shot in the stomach and taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The age and name of the victim was not released and a detailed description of the shooter was not made available.

Earlier in the day police say a local hospital called them around 11:30 p.m. Friday to report a man who had suffered a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his upper body.

The victim told officers that he had been shot several hours earlier in the area of Pacific Coast Highway and Pine Avenue. Police say the victim was uncooperative, giving them limited information. Officers searched the area the victim reported, but found no evidence of a shooting.

In a post online, Long Beach police said they are providing enhanced patrols in the area of Pacific Coast Highway and Pine Avenue and have additional officers responding to calls for service, in response to the two separate shootings.
