Man arrested in connection with 2017 Torrance home invasion robbery

A man wanted for a home invasion robbery back in 2017 has now been arrested.

The Torrance Police Department says an in-depth investigation and DNA analysis identified the suspect as 27-year-old Kevin James Edwards.

The home invasion occurred on July 01, 2017 in the 2000 block of 169th place. According to officers an elderly woman was in her home preparing lunch when the suspect broke in. Once the suspect was inside officers say he demanded her purse.

The victim attempted to run out of the home but the suspect forced her to the ground and then fled the house with her purse, the police department stated.

Detectives located Edwards in Norwalk last week and took him into custody on suspicion of robbery, residential burglary and assault.

Edwards is being held on $1 million bail.
