Man fatally wounded in downtown Los Angeles drive-by shooting
LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Police Department was investigating the deadly drive-by shooting of a pedestrian in downtown Los Angeles Sunday.
The shooting occurred at 5:51 a.m. at the intersection of West 14th and South Hill streets.
Police said the victim, later identified as Melvin Sanders, 34, was walking in the area when a gunman drove by and fired multiple shots.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, the Los Angeles Fire Department said.
No further information about the suspect was immediately released.
The suspect's vehicle is described as a 2008 Nissan Sentra with license plate 7SPHO79. It was last seen heading south on South Hill Street toward the Santa Monica (10) Freeway, according to sources at the scene.
The investigation was ongoing.
