Many prepare to descend on Pasadena for annual Rose Parade

As the finishing touches are being put on the Rose Parade floats, thousands of people are preparing to descend on Pasadena. For some, it's an annual tradition, for others, it's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

As the finishing touches are being put on the Rose Parade floats, thousands of people are preparing to descend on Pasadena.

For some, it's an annual tradition. For others, it's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. However, there is some information all parade-goers will want to know.

This year, no drones of any kind are allowed during the parade. Anyone caught will get their drone confiscated by authorities. Also, no alcohol whatsoever is allowed along the parade route, before, during or after. In 2018, police had to arrest seven people for drunkenness.

You'll also want to avoid throwing items of any kind during the parade such as marshmallows, tortillas, or silly string for example -- a common sight in years past but not this year. Anyone caught throwing anything during the parade will get fined.

Officials have designated a "blue honor line," a space that parade-goers can occupy if they wish to watch the parade front-and-center. However, you'll have to wait until 11 p.m. New Year's Eve before being allowed to move up to the blue line. Authorities will block off the streets starting at 10 p.m. New Year's Eve.
