Mask shaming: Is it part of the new normal?
LOS ANGELES - As new guidelines are put in place for wearing masks in public more and more people are hearing about mask shaming.
It’s no longer just a mask. It’s a lifestyle, even a political statement. And at times, it descends to social media bullying.
“I had my mask on just a little bit and he yelled at me to wear my mask, but he himself didn’t have a mask on,” said one local resident.
Mask shaming has taken on dramatic proportions and it’s definitely part of the pandemic new normal.
Is it justified? It depends on who you ask, especially as different cities and counties adopt different guidelines, making the issue even more confusing.
