The money will be used to distribute thousands of Angeleno cards to residents in need.

The Angeleno Card is a prepaid debit cards that is sent to qualifying individuals in the city.

Garcetti says this is the largest donation ever received for the Mayor’s Fund.

“This generous gift will save lives,” Mayor Garcetti stated Thursday evening during his daily briefing.

The original plan was to distribute 10,000 cards but due to the major donation the city will be able to distribute 15,000 cards… the mayor says that will help approximately 45,000 individuals in need.
