LOS ANGELES - A person is dead following an armed robbery at a business in Mid-City.
Officers were called to a strip mall in the area of Venice and Houser around 10:14 a.m. Friday.
According to police, a 25-year-old man went into the business and shot a 40-year-old man inside. That shooting victim, reported to be a security guard, returned fire and shot the suspect, police said.
Both men were taken to a hospital, where the original shooting suspect died, according to police.
The other man's condition was not immediately available.

Although video from the scene showed police detaining a person in the vicinity of nearby Saturn Street Elementary School, which was placed on lockdown during the police activity, police said two other suspects escaped from the scene in a Lexus ES.
According to the LAPD, the suspects stole $20,000 in currency from the businesses, along with a check for $1,000.
