Officers injured, five people arrested following fight at Huntington Beach
HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (FOX 11) - Five people were arrested after a brawl broke out at Huntington Beach Wednesday night.
The fight broke out after Huntington Beach police approached a woman drinking alcohol on the beach near Tower 11 on the pier's north side.
Police say the woman's friends then jumped the officers-- causing a fight to break out.
According to police, an unspecified number of officers were injured, including one who was taken to a hospital. That officer is expected to make a full recovery, police say.
"This is a good reminder to everyone that we have a no tolerance approach to alcohol on our beaches,'' the department said in a statement.
Officials say the fight was not connected to the U.S. Open of Surfing taking place near the Huntington Beach Pier.
