Domestic violence suspect shot by LAPD officers in Palms

An investigation is underway after a domestic violence suspect was shot by officers in Palms on the morning of Oct. 13.

An armed domestic violence suspect who was in a dispute with his family members was shot by officers in Palms Wednesday. He later died at an area hospital, authorities said. 

Officers with the Los Angeles Police Department were called to an apartment complex located near the intersection of Palms Boulevard and Overland Avenue after receiving a report of an assault with a deadly weapon.

Arriving LAPD officers said they found the suspect armed with a knife who was threatening his family inside the apartment.

According to the department, the officers heard a struggle from inside the apartment. Fearing for the safety of the family members, they forced entry when the officer-involved shooting occurred.

Person hospitalized following domestic violence call in Palms

One person was hospitalized after officers were involved in a shooting with a domestic violence suspect in Palms.

The suspect was struck by police gunfire and he was rushed to a local hospital where he died. 

No officers or other family members were hurt. 

No further information was immediately released. 

The investigation is ongoing.
