One killed, one injured in Boyle Heights shooting

Police Thursday continued their investigation following a fatal shooting in Boyle Heights.

The Los Angeles Police Department said Metropolitan Division officers were patrolling in an area located near East Cesar Chavez Avenue and North Savannah Street around 11 p.m. Wednesday when they witnessed a shooting taking place.

At least one of the suspects was armed with a gun and an officer-involved shooting occurred, LAPD Sgt. Frank Preciado said.

The suspects fled the scene on foot.

A perimeter was established and there was a tactical search for the outstanding suspects, Preciado said.

Authorities say no officers were injured in the shooting.

Officers located two victims at the scene suffering from gunshot wounds.

One of the victims died and the second victim was taken to a hospital with “stable vital signs,” Preciado said.

One person was later taken into custody.

A description of the suspects was not available.
