One person killed, two wounded in Santa Ana gang shooting attack

One person was killed and two others wounded in a possible gang-related attack several miles from the site of an earlier shooting, police said Thursday.

The shooting took place in an alley behind 718 Lacy Street, near Garfield Elementary School, around 11:35 p.m. Wednesday, Santa Ana police Sgt. Michael Claborn said. It happened about 90 minutes after a non-fatal attack on
Highland Street.

It's unknown if the two shootings were connected.

One person died in the later shooting, Claborn said, adding he didn't immediately have the victim's identity.

The victim was a woman, a news videographer reported from the site of the shooting.

Two men were wounded in the same shooting and transported to a hospital, Claborn said, adding that the violence may have been gang-related.

No information was immediately available on who did the shooting. Anyone with information on the incident was asked to call Santa Ana police at (714) 245-8665. All tips can be provided anonymously.
