Palos Verdes High student pleads not guilty in South LA gang murder

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (FOX 11) - A Palos Verdes teenager pleaded not guilty Wednesday to murder charges at his arraignment.

The judge would not allow news cameras inside the courtroom, but FOX 11 caught up with the teen when he left the courthouse.

Cameron Terrell was wearing a suit and was accompanied by his new attorney. Both were silent and offered no comments to the media on this case.

In court, Terrell pleaded not guilty to charges of murder and attempted murder.

According to police, Terrell drove the getaway car in an October 1 shooting in South Los Angeles that left a 21-year-old man dead. He was one of three suspects arrested in the shooting.

Terrell posted a $5 million bond a few days later.

Neighbors said he returned to his upscale Palos Verdes community, but many were shocked when police alleged he had ties to a South Los Angeles gang.

Terrell was a student at Palos Verdes High School, and parents there were outraged when he came back to campus. They said he posed a danger to the students and they were fearful of gang retaliation.

Much to their relief, the school district announced the teen would be home-schooled.

He's due back in court for a preliminary hearing in January.
