Section of PCH in Malibu reopens

A section of Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu officially reopened Monday after a days-long closure that occurred due to mudslides.

A section of Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu fully reopened Monday after a days-long closure due to a mudslide after an atmospheric river struck Southern California.

The roadblock also led to some temporary school closures within the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District. The issues also prompted Pepperdine University to cancel all in-person classes Wednesday at its Malibu campus.

On Wednesday morning, Caltrans District 7 officials posted on social media that PCH was closed in both directions between Corral Canyon and Latigo Canyon roads.

During Thursday morning’s commute, two southbound lanes and a single northbound lane reopened providing relief for drivers in the area.
