Police arrest suspect in connection to burglaries, sex assaults in South Pasadena

South Pasadena police announced an arrest in connection with five residential burglaries and three sexual assaults Wednesday morning in the southern part of the city.

The South Pasadena Police Department planned a late afternoon news conference to discuss details of the crimes, which began about 7:30 a.m., and the arrest.

Earlier Wednesday, police said they were looking for a black man about 18-30 years old, 5 feet 9 to 6 feet 2 inches tall, with a light-medium complexion, medium build and short hair with "lines cut in the hair.''

Two schools in the general area where the crimes occurred were locked down briefly while an investigation was conducted. In one case, the suspect was seen armed with a knife, and a knife was recovered at a burglary scene, police said.
