Innocent driver killed in South Gate pursuit-crash

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

A high-speed police chase turned deadly after an innocent driver was killed near South Los Angeles Monday afternoon.

The crash happened in the 2800 block of Illinois Avenue in South Gate. The crash involved two vehicles, one of them the police chase suspect.

According to authorities, the driver of the suspected stolen Range Rover crashed into an innocent driver in a Nissan Sentra, killing him on impact. 

He has been identified as Jose Mauricio Ochoa Jr., 34, of Los Angeles, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.

The suspect didn't stop there, however, as the pursuit continued until he crashed into another SUV, injuring the female driver then hitting three parked cars.

The three suspects in the Range Rover ran away from the scene of the crash, police said. One of them was arrested and police continue to look for the two additional suspects. 

A memorial has been set up for Ochoa Jr. at State and Southern.

No other information was immediately available.
