Dual LA police chases: 2 arrested after leading authorities on pursuits in stolen cars
LOS ANGELES - Two people are in custody after leading officers on two high-speed chases through LA County.
The chases began early Monday afternoon on the 5 Freeway in the Newhall area, both involving suspects driving GMC trucks.
The vehicles were reportedly stolen from a dealership in Carson City, Nevada.
California Highway Patrol officers picked up the chase in the San Fernando Valley.
As the suspects weaved through traffic at speeds occasionally topping 100 mph, one exited the freeway in the North Hollywood area and came to a stop near Saticoy Street and Lankershim Boulevard, where the driver was eventually taken into custody.
The second driver kept going and made his way through Glendale and Los Feliz.
The truck was seen speeding on the 5 and 134 freeways. SkyFOX spotted the vehicle driving on the emergency lane of the 5 Freeway, narrowly dodging traffic, while driving at speeds of up to 90 mph.
The driver eventually made his way on the 110 Freeway into downtown LA. He drove on surface streets while making his way into South LA.
The pursuit came to an end when the driver exited the vehicle and attempted to run.
Officers quickly located the man and took him into custody near Jefferson Boulevard and Halldale Avenue in the Adams-Normandie area.
