Police investigate deadly shooting near Santa Ana College
SANTA ANA, Calif. - School officials canceled classes at Santa Ana College Monday after police launched a homicide investigation near campus.
A man was shot to death around 1:00 a.m. at the intersection of Bristol Street and Washington Avenue, police said.
The victim was driving south on Bristol St. when he was shot multiple times. The victim's car went over a curve and into bushes on the campus parking lot, police said.
Arriving officers found the victim unresponsive and his car sprayed with bullets. The adult male victim was pronounced dead at the scene, Santa Ana police Corporal Anthony Bertanga said. His identity has not been released.
Santa Ana College campus police were helping Santa Ana police review surveillance video to see what happened.
Police are seeking multiple suspects after witnesses were seen running from the area of the shooting.
During the preliminary field investigation, officers detained three persons of interest in the city of Carson. Detectives also detained two possible suspects in the city of Long Beach.
The investigation is ongoing.
Bristol Street was closed in both directions from 17th Street to Washington Avenue for the homicide investigation, he said.
