Porter Ranch: How will Santa find us?

Your 5-years-old and believe Santa Claus knows exactly where you live. Unfortunately, a gas leak in your neighborhoods has caused your family to move to a hotel. It's terrible if you think Santa won't be able to find you because your hotel doesn't have a chimney. That's how Kaden Switzer feels. His sister shares the same angst.

The Switzer family is one of many in Porter Ranch that have fled their neighborhood after experiencing "… headaches, nausea, nosebleed and tightening of the throat" because of a massive leak at Southern California Gas Company's Aliso Canyon Gas Injection Facility.

When the leak was first noticed in October the Switzer Family asked to relocate from the two story home in Porter Ranch where they've lived for 13 years to a hotel. The Hyatt in Westlake Village, where they are now, was their second. The first didn't work out very well.

At their house in Porter Ranch the kids mom, Midko, started homeschooling the them when the leak was initially reported because she didn't want them in school or the area. At home there was a structure. In a hotel there are distractions. And, as she goes from the hotel to the house to pickup additional supplies she realizes how life has become a day to day situation.

The gas company is picking up the tab for the hotel and food through the end of January, but Midko says that doesn't help. She wishes her family could be home and have a normal Christmas. Again, the kids are worried Santa won't find them. Their mom has tried to reassure them that he will.
