Possible impaired driver involved in double-fatal crash: police

A driver who authorities believe may have been impaired was involved in a deadly crash in Montclair late Saturday night. 

The crash between a sedan and an SUV happened at 10:33 p.m. at the intersection of Howard Street and Ramona Avenue, the Montclair Police Department said. 

Montclair police officers and firefighters arrived at the scene within minutes to render medical aid. 

Authorities say the driver and passenger of the sedan were pronounced dead at the scene.

Additional patients were taken to a local hospital, including a 5-year-old boy. 

Montclair officials say impairment may have been a factor. However, the crash remains under investigation. 

The suspect was identified as a 32-year-old man from Garden Grove. 

The identities of the victims have not been released pending family notification.
