Preliminary 3.6 magnitude earthquake strikes Ridgecrest area
RIDGECREST, Calif. - A 3.6-magnitude earthquake struck the Ridgecrest area Tuesday morning.

The U.S. Geological Survey says the quake was reported at 6:11 a.m. and recorded at a depth of about 9.1 miles.

There were no immediate reports of damage. While there are many variables involved, geologists say damage does not usually occur until the earthquake magnitude reaches somewhere above 4 or 5.
