RIVERSIDE COUNTY, Calif. (FOX 11) - A rare albino hedgehog found in a Riverside County backyard now has a home.
‘Nic” was found on September 13 by a Riverside County Department of Animal Services officers and took the little critter it into their care.
The department says hedgehogs are illegal to own in California, so he was transferred to a rescue partner with a special permit to care for exotic animals.
“Our team fell in love with the little, spiny-coated buddy and nicknamed it "Nic," short for one of the world's most famous hedgehogs, Sonic,” the Riverside County Animal Services said in a post online.
