FOX 11 - A cat named Duchess arrived at an animal hospital in Texas last fall after being hit by a car and suffering a badly broken jaw.
While most places would have euthanized her -- the Adobe Animal Hospital and Clinic took a chance and repaired her broken jaw by wiring it, which resulted in the removal of most of her teeth.
According to Crystal Tate, an employee at the clinic, the cat was in recovery for about a month. While her chances of survival were slim, Tate writes that Duchess managed to make it through and was left with a crooked jaw.
The cat also soon became known for her unique smile, thanks to her jaw.
Tate eventually brought the cat home with her. She also started Facebook and GoFundMe pages to document Duchess' progress and raise money for future treatments.
