Riverside family alleges mother was brutally assaulted at local park
RIVERSIDE, Calif. - An investigation was underway after a woman was found with head and facial injuries at Doty Trust Park in Riverside.
Riverside Police Department officers responded to a report of an injured elderly person at the top of Orion Street around 11:30 p.m. Friday night. Officers found a 60-year-old woman in a “semi-conscious state” when she was taken to a local hospital, Riverside police said.
The woman’s family alleges she was brutally assaulted and suffered a brain bleed, fractured skull, fractured ribs on both sides of her body and is currently in a medically induced coma.
The woman will need plastic surgery due to the severity of her injuries, her family said on the Neighbors app. They added she is “a disabled woman who would never be able to defend for herself,” and warned the community that a predator or violent person is lurking in the area.
The woman's name was not immediately released.
Police were unable to confirm if the woman was assaulted or fell, and said the incident happened in an isolated and hilly area.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Riverside Police Department.
