Deadly San Marino house fire under investigation
SAN MARINO, Calif. - An investigation is underway after a woman was found dead inside a home that caught fire in San Marino Monday, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
Firefighters responded to the home in the 2000 block of Lorain Road around 9:45 a.m. for reports of a house fire.
Once firefighters extinguished the flames and made entry into the home, they located a woman dead inside.
The woman's identity has not been released by officials and her cause of death is unknown.
During a press conference Monday afternoon, sheriff's officials said a man, believed to be the woman's husband, made contact with firefighters when they arrived at the house.
The 51-year-old man told investigators he was not home at the time of the fire because he took his two 16-year-old boys to baseball practice.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
