School Standouts: Santa Ana High School security guard goes above and beyond for students

The motto at Santa Ana High School is: “Once a Saint, Always a Saint!” and Vincent Gonzales is proving he’s a saint at this high school.

For over twenty years, Gonzales has been a District Safety Officer at Santa Ana High and goes above and beyond the call of duty.

He is the first person the kids see when they come to school in the morning and the last person they see at night. There’s no job too big or too small for Gonzales.

From talking to students and guiding them, to picking up trash or securing the perimeter of the campus, Gonzales makes sure everyone and everything at Santa Ana High is in tip-top shape.

Gonzales grew up in the area and doesn't live too far from campus. Let’s just say, he’s always on call.

He knows everyone’s name in the community and he is never too busy to stop and talk. On a typical day, you can catch him riding his signature mountain bike on the school grounds stopping along the way to make sure his students are alright.

And it doesn’t stop there. There’s no request too big or too small to ask Gonzales. From buying students their cap and gowns for graduation, helping kids registering for class, or even getting a student breakfast who otherwise couldn’t afford it, his motto is “If I’ve got it, they’ve got it too!”

It is through his random acts of kindness that makes Gonzales the go-to guy at Santa Ana High School.

For over 3,000 kids, Gonzales is a friendly face at school that they can approach and trust. There is nothing he won’t do for his students and he does it because he truly cares. As you can see, Gonzales is proving that there are truly saints among us!
