Sewage spill shuts down Huntington Harbour
HUNTINGTON BEACH - A 50,000-gallon sewage spill forced the closure of Huntington Harbour and may remain closed through the holiday weekend, officials said.
The sewage spill started on Wednesday and was reported early Thursday morning. Initial reports estimated the sewage spill was around 60,000 gallons, but officials later determined it was closer to 50,000 gallons.
The first round of testing conducted by the Orange County Health Care Agency is expected back Friday.
The closures include Anaheim Bay, Sunset Aquatic Marina, Portofino Cove, Anderson Street Marina, Mother's Beach and Admiralty Drive.
A sewer main blockage in Stanton led to the spill, which was reported at 2:30 a.m.Thursday, officials said.
