City of Industry, Calif. (FOX 11) - A hazmat team responded to a crash early Tuesday in the city of Industry that sent a Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputy to the hospital, authorities said.
The crash was reported just before 3:20 a.m. in the 100 block of North California Avenue. Authorities said the big rig was attempting to make a wide right turn into a parking lot and the deputy's vehicle was passing on the right side when the two collided.
The deputy was taken to a nearby hospital for injuries but said to be alert and conscious at the scene.
Authorities said neither alcohol nor drugs were a factor in the crash.
Approximately 8 to 10 gallons of oil from the deputy's vehicle and big rig spilled into the street. A hazmat team was called to clean up the area.
North California Avenue was expected to be closed for a few hours as authorities continued an investigation and cleanup.
