MT BALDY, Calif. - Detectives with the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department are looking into the homicide of 40-year-old Chino resident Frank Vargas whose body was found in the morning of Sept. 14 in the Mount Baldy area.
The Sheriff's Department says dispatch received a call at about 7:43 a.m. Saturday of a possible body lying in the roadway in the area of Mount Baldy Road near Bear Canyon Road.
Responding deputies located the victim's body down an embankment from a vehicle turnout on Mount Baldy Road, about one mile north of Ice House Canyon Road.
Authorities say that based on the obvious signs of trauma to Vargas' body and physical evidence at the scene, homicide detectives were contacted.
The Sheriff's Department did not go into detail as to what the injuries and evidence located at the scene and victim's body were and have not released suspect information.
