Shooting investigation blocking 405 Freeway near Hawthorne

A police investigation stemming from a shooting is causing traffic headaches for those going up and down the 405 Freeway through the Hawthorne area.

The northbound lanes of the 405 Freeway in Hawthorne reopened after California Highway Patrol officers shot a suspect during a confrontation near the Rosecrans Avenue exit Thursday night, officials said. 

SkyFOX was over the 405 Freeway near the Inglewood Avenue exit around 8 p.m.  Thursday when all lanes were blocked due to the investigation. 

A SigAlert was issued in the area for eight hours.

The circumstances leading up to the shooting are unknown. The suspect was taken to an area hospital and authorities said they are expected to survive. 

No other injuries were reported.
