Bomb threat investigation underway at Stella High Charter Academy in South LA
LOS ANGELES COUNTY, Calif. - Students at Middle College High School in South Los Angeles were evacuated following a bomb threat at nearby Stella High Charter Academy late Monday morning, officials said.
The school is located at 1600 Imperial Highway in South LA's West Athens neighborhood and serves an estimated 340 students.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department confirmed the bomb threat.
The following note was sent out to the Middle College HS community:
"This is Middle College High School Principal Bazider with an important message. The safety of our students and our staff remains my top priority.
Today, we were made aware of a bomb threat that was made to Stella Charter School that is located on the Southwest College campus. Out of precaution, the Sheriffs evacuated our campus to the football field as they investigate. Our students and our staff are safe. An update will be provided once the Sheriff provides more information.
Thank you for your support and patience."

Also on Wednesday, authorities were investigating a separate incident at a middle school in Highland Park.
