Crews battling brush fire in the Angeles National Forest

Firefighters fully contained a brush fire that erupted in the Angeles National Forest on April 5.

The fire, dubbed the "Springs Fire," had been held to 62 acres and was fully contained on Monday, officials with the Angeles National Forest said.

Officials believed winds of up to 30 mph contributed to spreading the fire.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department and the US Forest Service worked together to battle the blaze.

Fire crews were first dispatched to the area of Big Pines Highway and Big Rock Creek Road at about 4:05 p.m. Monday, April 5, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Several Cal Fire tankers were called in to combat the blaze.

Some structures, including a fire training camp on Big Rock Road, were threatened by the fire, which was being pushed in an eastern direction, generally toward the San Bernardino County community of Wrightwood. No structures were ultimately damaged.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
