(FOX 11) - According to a new study, financial news company 24/7 Wall St. reviewed data from the CDC to identify the metropolitan areas reporting the highest levels of binge and excessive drinking in each state.
Well, when it comes to binge drinking Chico is the worst city in the entire state of California!
The study found that in Chico, about 21% of adults take part in heavy drinking.That number is higher than the state average of 18% and over 34% of the driving deaths in Chico are alcohol related.
According to the CDC, excessive alcohol consumption which includes binge drinking is defined as four or more drinks per occasion for women and five or more drinks for men. Heavy drinking is at least eight or more drinks per week for women and fifteen or more for men.
