Suspect in hit-and-run that killed Holocaust survivor arrested

The suspect in a Valley Village deadly hit-and-run that took the life of 91-year-old Holocaust survivor Gennady Bolotsky on June 17, has been arrested, LAPD said.

The suspect was not immediately identified but Los Angeles police say she's facing criminal charges of felony hit-and-run, felony manslaughter, and assault with a deadly weapon.

The suspect is currently at the Lakewood L.A. Sheriff's jail.

Bolotsky was struck by a white pickup truck as he crossed Magnolia Boulevard at Wilkson Avenue while walking his dog Leelah. Video from a nearby security camera shows the driver hitting Bolotsky, then running over him before driving away from the scene.

Bolotsky died of his injuries at a local hospital.

Born in 1928, Bolotsky survived the Holocaust and able to escape the Nazi occupation as a Jew in Ukraine.
