Suspect shot and killed in downtown LA officer-involved shooting

A man was shot and killed Sunday in an officer-involved-shooting in downtown Los Angeles, police said.

It happened about 2:15 p.m. near the intersection of 7th and Hope streets, police said.

According to police, an officer from LAPD's Transit Services Division saw a man armed with a shotgun at that location. The officer attempted to stop the man and a short foot pursuit took place, after which an OIS occurred.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was withheld pending notification of kin.

There's no word yet as to what precipitated the OIS.

A shotgun and ammunition were recovered at the scene.
