Alleged Target shooting suspect arrested after standoff
The man wanted for shooting two security guards at a downtown LA Target store was taken into custody after an hours-long standoff at an apartment building.
LOS ANGELES - An "armed and dangerous" shoplifting suspect who allegedly shot two people outside a Target store in downtown Los Angeles Monday night was arrested after an hours-long standoff with police at an apartment complex not too far from the shooting.
The suspect was barricaded inside an apartment building in the 1200 block of Ingraham Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The barricade began around 11:30 a.m.; the suspect was taken into custody just before 5 p.m.
Police said the suspect was believed to be on the 6th floor of the building.
According to nearby residents, the location is a low-income housing apartment.
"I’ve never seen him a day in my life to be honest with you," said a neighbor.

On Monday, Dec. 30 around 9 p.m., LAPD officers were called to the Figat7th shopping center following reports of shots fired.
Authorities say he tried stuffing a suitcase with about $1,500 worth of merchandise and walking out, but was confronted by security and started shooting.

LAPD provides update on Target shooting
Two employees were left wounded after an alleged shoplifter opened fire outside a Target in downtown Los Angeles on Monday night.
"This is what we fear when we have shoplifters, deadly confrontations where somebody pulls a gun," said LAPD Capt. Raul Jovel. "The suspect fired at least 5 rounds. He could have shot multiple people in that mall. This particular individual has shown a disregard for human life."
In a mall full of people around 9 p.m., two security guards were shot and rushed to the hospital. One has since been released while the other remains in critical condition.
"We could hear bullets whisking by us," witness Lucas Williams said. "We started running up the stairs."
No shoppers were hurt in the shooting.
It's unclear if the suspect was hit. However, he managed to get away from the scene.
