‘Ted Lasso’ Season 4 may happen as news on cast members emerge. Here’s what we know

"Ted Lasso" could be returning to television soon for a fourth season on Apple TV+, according to multiple reports. 

There are some details about the new season, including cast members likely coming back to reprise their roles in the soccer comedy series. Here is what you need to know.

Is "Ted Lasso" returning for a fourth season?

A writers' room for the fourth season of the show is being created with production scheduled for 2025. 

Which actors are returning to the show?

Warner Bros. Television, the studio for the series, picked up the contract options on three key cast members: Hannah Waddingham, who plays AFC Richmond owner Rebecca Walton, Jeremy Swift, who plays Director of Football Operations Leslie Higgins, and Brett Goldstein, who plays soccer player turned coach Roy Kent. All three actors are represented by Union, a U.K. acting union, Deadline reported.

With Waddingham, Swift, and Goldstein locked in for another season, the Los Angeles Times reports that Warner Bros. will reach out to other cast members represented by SAG-AFTRA, the U.S. actors union, including Jason Sudekis, who plays the lead role of Ted Lasso, Brendan Hunt, who plays Coach Beard, and Juno Temple, who plays Keeley Jones. 

However, other cast members like Phil Dunster, who plays soccer star Jamie Tartt, may not return for season four because of scheduling conflicts with two other shows he is appearing in for Apple and Amazon Prime Video.

Deadline reported that it’s unknown which other cast members from the show have been contacted about returning for Season 4, but the actors made it known that they would enjoy the chance to continue their roles on the Emmy-winning show. 

What is "Ted Lasso" about?

 "Ted Lasso" debuted in 2020 and tells the story of a silly American football coach who moves to England to lead a professional soccer team even though he has no knowledge about the sport. 

The show became a fan-favorite and won 13 Emmy Awards. Season 3 of the show ended in May 2023 and was rumored to be the final season, USA Today reported.
