Teen driver injured, arrested in North Hollywood police pursuit
NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif. - The teenage boy who led police on a pursuit through the North Hollywood area in a utility truck reported stolen and crashed into a North Hollywood apartment building had been reported missing earlier in
South Los Angeles, authorities said.
The 13-year-old is a Lakewood resident reported missing during a visit to South Los Angeles, Sgt. A. Youssef of the Los Angeles Police Department's 77th Street Station said.
The pursuit started at 3 p.m. Saturday with a report of a hit-and-run collision and possible stolen truck at Coldwater Canyon Avenue and Victory Boulevard, Officer Mike Lopez of the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations Section said.
The teen also caused a crash at Vineland Avenue and Saticoy Street just before the pursuit ended when he crashed into an apartment building in the 7200 block of Troost Avenue, where he was arrested, Lopez said.
The teen was injured, police said. A woman inside the damaged apartment was taken to a hospital to be checked for injuries, according to news reports from the scene.
Injuries were reported to have been minor.
