Teenage girl dies after being found unresponsive on front lawn of Whittier apartment
WHITTIER, Calif. (FOX 11) - An investigation is underway in South Whittier after a 16-year-old girl died after being found unresponsive on the front lawn of an apartment.
Around 7:45 p.m. Friday night neighbors at the complex say a vehicle pulled up to the corner of Inez St and Meyer Rd. and two people unloaded the unresponsive teenager onto the lawn and took off.
Emergency responders transported the girl to hospital in grave condition where she later died.
“It’s pretty sad. She had just turned 16”, said one resident.
Residents saw another teenage girl, who may be the victim’s friend, in handcuffs in the back of a squad car.
“We were in the kitchen just relaxing then we saw cop cars pull up, saw the lights through the windows. We went to go see, but couldn’t see much from all the cop cars surrounding,” a neighbor said.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Unit is now investigating the case. At this moment they are calling it a suspicious death –as they investigate a cause of death.
