Over two dozen malnourished and starving dogs were rescued from an Ontario home by officials with the Inland Valley Humane Society and SPCA.

The dogs had no food or water and were found eating small tree branches, officials said. The dogs range in age from one to 13 years and are primarily Labrador and Spaniel breeds.

Ontario police responded to the home after receiving several complaints about a smell that people noticed from across the street. Officials say the owner signed the dogs over to the SPCA and is currently facing charges for neglect.

Veterinary staff evaluated each dog carefully and they are all up for adoption now, looking for a forever home.

Anyone interested in adopting one of the dogs can contact the Inland Valley Humane Society.
