Universal Studios Hollywood closed Thursday due to LA wildfires
LOS ANGELES - Due to extreme fire conditions and strong winds, Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal CityWalk closed for the second day in a row on Thursday, Jan. 9.
The news went against park officials' initial estimate that the park would reopen after initially shutting down on Wednesday.
"We anticipate a full reopening of our destination, tomorrow, January 9, 2025 at our normal operating hours pending assessment of the situation. Stay tuned for important information regarding ticket redemption for ticketed guests affected by today’s closure. The safety of our team members and our guests is our top priority," park officials said in a statement before deciding to close the park for Jan. 9.
The news comes as Los Angeles County deals with several massive fires forcing Angelenos to evacuate.
The Palisades Fire has burned over 17,000 acres as of Wednesday night. More than 1,000 structures were destroyed and/or damaged and thousands of people were forced to evacuate.
