Ventura County seeks accelerated path to reopening

Health officials were expected to present a plan Tuesday to the Ventura County Board of Supervisors in hopes to get approval to reopen businesses, which would allow the county to fully enter the state's second stage.

Late last month, Gov. Gavin Newsom announced his Four Stage plan to lift the state's Stay-at-Home order

Under those guidelines, some counties would be able to reopen businesses at a faster rate.

Ventura County officials say they are ready to reopen and they believe they can do it safely.

On Monday, Newsom reported continued stability or declines in hospitalizations, positive COVID-19 cases and ICU patients statewide.

In order to fully enter the second stage, counties are required to meet certain criteria

On Monday, nail care and hair salon employees took to the streets in Simi Valley, demanding that salons reopen.

“All of us have families [and] we need to support our families. We’re still paying for our industries. We’re not getting any breaks…this is insane. We need to get back to work. We flattened the curve, we want our businesses to open,” a business owner told FOX 11.

The meeting is scheduled for 11 a.m.
