(FOX 11/AP) - Delta Flight 5720 from San Antonio to LAX was diverted to Tucson because of a disruptive passenger who was interfering with the flight crew.
"We were just escorted down by two F-16s" read a tweet from Ryan Healy. He also posted a photo of the actual planes, from his seat inside Delta Flight 5720, headed from San Antonio to LAX.
Airport officials in Tucson confirmed that the plane had been diverted to Tucson International after a passenger "became unruly" and made threats to the flight attendant. A video from Healy, once the plane landed, shows TSA officials asking a young man with dark hair to leave his seat and walk towards them, which he does without saying anything.
An older white haired man followed, trying to tell the officers the younger man was under "medication" of some sort, it's hard to make out the sound on the tape. Healy says the "guy appeared to be having some sort of breakdown".
He adds that the young man refused to seat down for some time and made some kind of threat about the aircraft to the attendant. That's when the crew called in for help and where re directed to Tucson.
Every passenger had to be re-screened, and the plane checked with explosion detection dogs. It was eventually allowed to depart from Tucson to LAX, where it was originally scheduled. Healy insists he was not "too scared", but that the F16's "did freak him out".
No word on charges against the young man at this point.
