Video of man suffering medical emergency dragged off Metro train goes viral

(FOX 11) - A man suffering a medical emergency is apparently dragged off a Metro train in Long Beach by another passenger.

The incident happened during the evening commute August 1st, at the Wardlow station of the Blue Line according to a Metro official.

"Metro is working with our law enforcement partners in investigating an incident," said Rick Jager with Metro Media Relations.

Metro became aware of the incident after FOX 11 News showed them the video that is going viral after being posted to several social media websites by fellow riders.

"Obviously, this is very disturbing and we never want to see this on our system. We're getting all the facts including reviewing the video from the train and the platform, and we'll share more details when they're available," said Jager.

In the video you can hear fellow riders saying the man passenger was removing the victim because he wanted to get home.

At one point the victim loses his pants from apparently being dragged onto the platform and his belongings are thrown on the ground.

Metro spokesman Rick Jager says the behavior is not only disturbing but in violation to the rider code of conduct and they are working with police to investigate.

"If someone is in distress, we encourage people to call 9-1-1 for medical assistance. If you have more information about the incident, please call Metro security staff at (888) 950-SAFE," said Jager.
