Wednesday's Child: Kieley

Kieley recently went ice skating for the first time, and hopes to one day be an acrobat.

Meet Kieley, a friendly, warm and engaging 12-year-old in foster care with an inquisitive and adventurous spirit. As the holidays approach, we met up with Kieley at the Holiday on Ice Rink in Pershing Square in downtown Los Angeles for her first time ice-skating!

Kieley says that school isn’t one of her favorite activities but the subject she’s most interested in is history, because she gets to learn about people, places and events. This is consistent with her personality because she loves to engage with people and is genuinely interested in who people are as individuals.

Kieley has hopes of becoming an acrobat someday, perhaps performing with a Cirque du Soleil troupe and doing stunts suspended in midair. Kieley likes to ride roller coasters.

Although this was her first time ice skating, Kieley’s strong sense of determination was on display on the ice this day. When she fell, she got back up and kept at it — building trust in those offering assistance as well as in her own abilities.

Kieley can see herself as part of a large adoptive family with siblings and/or cousins. She envisions enjoying fun family get-togethers as well as just laughing together during simple movie nights at home.
