RANCHO CUCAMONGA , Calif. - Neighbors were on edge after a woman and her 8-year-old daughter were stabbed to death inside their Rancho Cucamonga home early Sunday morning, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said.
Deputies responded to the home located in the 6800 block of Bergano Place, located near Milliken and Highland avenues, around 3 a.m. after receiving a 911 call.
According to SBSD, arriving deputies discovered multiple people inside suffering from stab wounds.
Paramedics attempted to revive a 44-year-old woman and her young daughter. However, they were pronounced dead at the scene.
They were identified by authorities as Jia Jia and 8-year-old Ruby Meng.
Homicide detectives said they were unaware of how the suspect entered the home when they stabbed the three victims inside a bedroom. The suspect was then able to leave the home through a sliding door.
SBSD also said there were other relatives inside the home who were sleeping when the horrific event occurred, but they were not injured.
Officials are investigating if this incident was domestic or a possible home invasion.
