Woman killed, man wounded in South LA double shooting
A woman believed to be in her 20s was killed in a drive-by shooting in South Los Angeles, police said. Her passenger was wounded but is expected to be OK.
LOS ANGELES - A woman was killed and a man was wounded in a double shooting in South Los Angeles Tuesday morning, police said.
The Los Angeles Police Department received a shots fired call just before 3:30 a.m. at the intersection of Slauson and Western avenues in South LA’s Harvard Park neighborhood.
Investigators said a vehicle with out-of-state plates was stopped at a red light when the suspect pulled up next to them and started shooting.
Arriving LAPD officers declared a woman in her 20s dead at the scene. She was the driver while her passenger, a male in his 20s, was taken to an area hospital.
The passenger is alert and is expected to survive, police said.
The intersection remains closed while police conduct the investigation.
A description of the suspect was not available.
