Woman killed on 101 Freeway in Woodland Hills

A woman got out of her disabled car after crashing it into the center divider of the 101 Freeway Thursday and was struck and killed by a pickup truck, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The motorist was driving a 2019 Toyota 86 westbound on the 101, south of De Soto Avenue, when she lost control of the coupe for unknown reasons shortly before 5 a.m., according to a CHP statement.

The car came to a stop, blocking the number one and two lanes. She got out of the Toyota and was standing outside the car in the number one lane when a 2001 Nissan Frontier approached and struck the Toyota and her.

The woman, who was not immediately identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The truck's driver, a 35-year-old man whose name was withheld, complained of back pain but was otherwise OK, according to the CHP.

Three lanes of the freeway were closed until at least 9 a.m. for the crash investigation.
