Star Harvey

Meteorologist

Star Harvey brings her passion for weather and storytelling to the FOX 11 Los Angeles team as the Meteorologist for the FOX 11 Weekend Evening News. You’ll also catch her occasionally delivering forecasts on Good Day LA and the FOX 11 Weekday Evening News.

A proud Los Angeles native, Star grew up in the San Fernando Valley and spent much of her childhood in South Central, where both of her parents are from. Her roots in these vibrant communities have shaped her connection to the city and her dedication to serving its residents.

Star’s fascination with weather began as a child after experiencing the devastating 1994 Northridge earthquake, a 6.7 magnitude event that had a lasting impact on her life. The earthquake caused her family to lose their childhood home to a fire, an experience that ignited her deep curiosity about natural phenomena and their impact on communities. This pivotal event inspired her lifelong commitment to keeping others informed and prepared.

Star began her academic journey at Cal State Northridge, where she earned her first bachelor’s degree, solidifying her ties to the community that raised her. She later pursued meteorology studies at Mississippi State University, turning her passion for weather into a career dedicated to informing and empowering others.

Her career has taken her across the country. Before joining FOX 11, she served as a coastal meteorologist at PIX 11 News in New York City, delivering forecasts for one of the nation’s most dynamic climates. She also worked as a meteorologist in Colorado, where she navigated unpredictable mountain weather, and in Houston, Texas, where she became well-versed in severe storms and hurricane coverage.

In addition to her work on air, Star is very active on social media, where she shares her journey to becoming a meteorologist, inspiring others to pursue their dreams. Many may also recognize her face from viral posts showcasing her on-air fashion trends, which have garnered widespread attention and admiration.

Star is also an inspiring author. Her book, Shoot for the Stars, encourages young readers to chase their dreams and is proudly carried at Barnes & Noble and Amazon. She enjoys visiting local schools to share her love of science and inspire the next generation of weather enthusiasts.

When she’s not in the weather center, Star loves exploring her hometown, spending time with her son Bryce, and cherishing moments with her five sisters.

Star is thrilled to be back home in Los Angeles, helping FOX 11 viewers stay informed while sharing her passion for weather, storytelling, and fashion-forward style.
