LA Rams begin offseason workout program (and adjust to LA traffic)

The workouts are voluntary, but nonetheless…Monday was the first official day of football business for your Los Angeles Rams.

The Rams began their 2016 offseason workout program Monday at the Residence Inn Oxnard River Ridge.

The initial two-week phase of the team's offseason workout program is limited to strength and conditioning and physical rehabilitation under terms of the league's collective bargaining agreement.

At the field up in Oxnard - as we said the workouts were voluntary, but so far only two players have not shown up.

For the majority, the big challenge is getting used to a brand new city, and in this case of cornerback Trumaine Johnson - the traffic!

A common theme in the interviews following the workout was the improved weather from St. Louis, the team's home from 1995-2015.

When asked what he knew about Los Angeles before the team's move was approved by NFL owners in January, Austin responded, "Kobe Bryant,'' referring to the recently retired Lakers star guard.

"That's the only thing I knew about Los Angeles,'' said Austin, the team's first round choice in the 2013 NFL draft out of West Virginia. "I'm an East Coast guy, from a small town, from Baltimore, so it's a little different from me right now.''

Austin said he arrived in Los Angeles on April 1 and loves the city. "I love the weather,'' Austin said. "I never had great weather like this all year round.''

The Rams also announced today the they re-signed starting quarterback Case Keenum, who had been a restricted free agent, Greg Zuerlein, an unrestricted free agent who has been their kicker since 2012, and free agent running back Chase Reynolds, who has been with the team since 2013.
