What you need to know about the 3-day strike by LAUSD staff unions

Schools within the Los Angeles Unified School District, the second-largest education system in the US, will shut down completely the next three days after a union representing workers announced a three-day strike to protest "unfair practices."

The union has repeatedly accused the district of engaging in unfair labor practices, saying union members have been subjected to harassment and intimidation tactics during an earlier strike-authorization vote and as the possible walkout neared.

The district stated that it believes the conflict "could be resolved if both sides entered into good-faith discussions between now and Tuesday."
